As our financial system reels, our markets collapse, and an economic abyss looms directly ahead, the question must be asked yet again: Why won?t our rulers end the pointless and counter-productive war in Iraq?
Our current economic crisis is described as a ?credit crunch.? Thus it?s significant that the war on Iraq ? which neither attacked nor threatened the U.S. ? has been fought on credit. The war has cost more than a half-trillion dollars . Altogether the price of the so-called ?war on terror? runs more than a trillion dollars.
In a videotaped message broadcast after the September 11 attacks, Osama bin Laden explained that his objective was to goad the United States into a course that would bring about our financial ruin.
Thanks to the indispensable help of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and their comrades, bin Laden can proudly proclaim: Mission Accomplished.
Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
