Job Security for Tax-Fattened Parasites December 9, 2010

Here is something to ponder as the unemployment rate among America?s productive class continues to climb: Between 2008 and 2010, Arizona state government agencies accumulated more than 88,000 hours of paid administrative leave.

Each time a corrupt, incompetent, or criminally misbehaving government employee is put on administrative leave he enjoys a paid vacation. As Arizona?s Goldwater Institute in a recent report, 88,000 hours is ?the equivalent of state workers spending more than 42 years? on paid vacation.

Misbehaving government employees at all levels are difficult to discipline and very rarely terminated. Several cases examined by the Institute involve employees who were kept on the payroll despite numerous instances of professional misconduct (such as falsifying records or sleeping on the job) and violations of drug laws.

While corrupt and inefficient members of Arizona?s tax-devouring class enjoyed paid vacations, hundreds of thousands of actual workers lost their jobs and struggled to survive. There?s little reason to doubt that the same dichotomy exists in every other state.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
