Kicking and Handcuffing Pregnant Women: It's "Within Policy"

Will Grigg?s Liberty Minute

After her brother became embroiled in a child custody dispute that involved the police, Raven Dozier tried to calm him down. When officers used a Taser on her brother, a weeping Raven demanded to know why the use of a reliably lethal weapon was necessary.

This brought Raven ? the young mother of a toddler ? to the attention of DeKalb Officer Jerad Wheeler, who kicked the unarmed and helpless woman in the stomach. He then arrested the woman for obstruction. Fortunately, the staff at the DeKalb County Jail wasn?t willing to incarcerate a woman who was nine months pregnant.

A photograph of Raven taken after Wheeler?s assault displayed a huge bruise across her abdomen. In his report, Wheeler claimed that he was dealing with an ?aggressive? woman and that he used ?a front push kick to the abdomen, as [I] was taught to do at the academy.?

The department insisted that Wheeler?s assault was ?within policy.? The same officer once attacked a 53-year-old woman trying to help her young grandchildren following an accident ? another crime found ?justified? by his superiors.

About two weeks after the attack, Raven gave birth to a now-four-month-old son, Levii, via emergency C-section. That beautiful child is a survivor of a prenatal assault by a uniformed bully.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
