Democracy is based on the morally unsupportable assumption that violence against the individual can be sanctified through the political state, and justified through majority vote. That?s why the American Founders abhorred democracy, choosing instead to create a constitutional republic.

Milton Friedman warned that democracies end in bankruptcy. Economic commentator Neil Reynolds observes that ?Democracies have made people more dependent on the state than any humanitarian necessity required.?

A study published by Italy?s Sapienza University entitled Democracy, Debt and Disorder indicts John Maynard Keynes, the intellectual pontiff of the welfare state. Keynes ?provided politicians with a rationale for borrowing money to buy votes,? notes that study. The political class redistributed wealth from the future to fund an orgy of corrupt spending in the present.

As the accelerating collapse of the welfare state demonstrates, that future has now arrived ? one in which majority rule degenerates into undisguised mob violence, as seen in Greece and elsewhere.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
