Once Again: If You Don't Despise Prosecutors....

The worst thing that can possibly happen to a parent is to lose a child. Atlanta resident Raquel Nelson suffered that unfathomable loss on April 10, 2010, when her four-year-old son was struck and killed by Jerry Guy, a hit-and-run driver who later admitted that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and painkillers. Guy was sentenced to five years in prison, then released last October after serving six months.

Mrs. Nelson, on the other hand, could spend up to three years in prison for jaywalking ? a violation that, owing to the depraved creativity of an utterly sadistic prosecutor, has been transmuted into three separate offenses, including second-degree homicide by vehicle. In other words, the mother who lost a child was convicted of being an accomplice in the crime committed by the man who killed that young boy ? because she, like practically every other pedestrian who used that intersection, crossed at a location that was more convenient than the officially designated walkway.

Again it must be said: Any decent person who doesn?t despise prosecutors simply isn?t paying attention.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
