Our Ruling Oligarchy October 9, 2007

The Sunday Times of London recently reported that the Bush administration is ?paving the way for a smooth transition? to a Democratic administration headed by Hillary Clinton.

If Hillary Clinton is our next president ? and may God spare us such a fate! -- it will mean that either a Bush or a Clinton will control the executive branch for nearly a quarter century.

How can this happen? One answer was offered by Georgetown University historian Carroll Quigley, a mentor of Bill Clinton, in his 1966 book Tragedy and Hope.

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ?throw the rascals out? at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy."

It's obvious that Quigley's vision of a bipartisan ruling oligarchy has come true.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
