Will Grigg?s Liberty Minute

April 27, 2011

Do you know where your mother lived at the time she gave birth to you? How about her address on your first birthday? If necessary, could you describe what, if anything, she did for a living during her pregnancy? Can you provide details about the pre- and post-natal care she received?

Can you name the people who witnessed your birth? Would you be willing to describe to a perfect stranger any religious rituals performed on you as a newborn ? including circumcision, baptism, or confirmation?

Would you be able to list every address where you?ve resided from the time of your birth to the present? Finally, would you be willing to disgorge the answers to all of these invasive questions in written form, under penalty of perjury? Unless you?re willing to do so, you won?t be able to obtain a United States Passport.

The absurdly elaborate and insultingly detailed passport application is compelling evidence ? as if more were needed ? that we live in a fast-maturing prison society.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
