In his Iraq War memoir Hard Corps, Marine veteran Marco Martinez describes ?contact patrol? as a deployment in which ?any person encountered, armed, is to be considered hostile and killed at will.?

Police in many cities routinely conduct modified ?contact patrols? by deploying paramilitary units to intimidate a targeted population.

?We?re into saturation patrols in hot spots,? explained a SWAT leader in Fresno. ?[We] look for minor violations and do jump-outs ? [accompanied] with an ostentatious display of weaponry.?

In New Haven, Connecticut, SWAT teams raided local nightclubs, terrorizing scores of students and arresting several others on spurious or exaggerated charges.

In a similar vein, Sheriff Mearl Justice of Illinois? St. Clair County is deploying an armored surveillance vehicle called ?The Exterminator? to intimidate people suspected of such serious offenses as having untidy yards.

The authors of the Third Amendment to the U.S. Constitution would be nauseated by the docility Americans display as our police rapidly mutate into an army of occupation.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
