During an interview with Fox News, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer made a remarkable and terrifying claim:

"We cannot afford all this illegal immigration and everything that comes with it ? [including] the drugs and the kidnappings and the extortion and the beheadings?.?

County medical examiners in Arizona have not documented a single murder involving a beheading.

Arizona is not under siege. Apprehensions of illegal immigrants at the border are down sixty percent since 2000. The illegal immigrant population has declined by 18 percent since 2008. Brewer claims that Arizona is ?inundated with criminal activity,? but the violent crime rate is lower than it has been in decades.

Particularly during a recession, most governors would seek to attract business and tourism. Yet Brewer is perversely determined to portray the Grand Canyon State as a spectacle of hideous violence and turmoil. Could it be that she ? like other politicians emulating her example ? places political profit over her state?s economic health?

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
