The much-derided ?Birthers? ? those who believe that there are legitimate questions regarding Obama?s status as a native-born U.S. citizen ? appear to have a point.

Five years ago, the Nairobi Standard newspaper ran a story headlined: ?Kenyan-born Obama all set for US Senate.? The lede to that story announced that ?Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race?.?

Also noteworthy is the fact that many Kenyans perceive Obama?s Nobel Prize as ? in the words of the Los Angeles Times ? a ?hometown victory.?

Ironically, there were legitimate questions about the constitutional qualifications of both major party candidates in the last presidential election, since Arizona Senator McCain was born in Panama, not the United States. The larger problem, of course, was that neither major-party candidate took the Constitution seriously, a problem that will most likely persist.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
