In the teeth of nearly unanimous opposition from the electorate, Congress enacted a $700 billion measure to bail out Wall Street interests damaged by the credit crisis.

The measure was an austere three pages long when it was first submitted to Congress on September 29. Amid a torrential outpouring of voter rage, the House defeated the bill. The same bill, plumped up to more than 400 pages in length and larded with special interest pork, passed with little difficulty four days later.

The Bush Regime and its congressional allies deployed both bribes and blackmail.Democratic congressman Brad Sherman of California recalled that several Congressmen ?were told that there would be martial law in America if we voted `no.??

Tragically, there?s nothing new about Congress ignoring the Constitution and the people. There is something new and ominous in the administration?s threat to hold the public hostage through Martial Law. This is how politics operates under a dictatorship.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
