Shortly before Germany?s 2009 general election, U.S. diplomats criticized the country?s Free Democratic Party for espousing a ?limited government viewpoint.? According to a secret diplomatic cable published by the whistleblower organization WikiLeaks, Washington did what it could to discourage inclusion of the FDP in a German coalition government.
The documents disclosed by WikiLeaks also describe Bush administration efforts to pressure German officials not to pursue legal action against the Americans who kidnapped and abused German resident Khalid al-Masri The Lebanese-born man was kidnapped by CIA operatives and held for more than a year, during which time he was beaten, sodomized, and otherwise abused before being released without explanation or apology.
Yet another key WikiLeaks revelation is an an April 2009 cable describing bipartisan efforts to pressure the Spanish government into dropping an official investigation of torture and other war crimes committed by the Bush administration
These are just a few examples of the Soviet-style imperialism that is the routine business of the government ruling us.
Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
