Before being nominated for the post of deputy secretary of state, Thomas R. Nides was paid more than $8 million in salary and bonuses as chief operating officer for the Wall Street investment bank Morgan Stanley. Every penny of that bounty was redirected from taxpayers by way of the federal bank bailout.

The official he would replace, Jacob Lew, has been reassigned to serve as the Obama administration?s federal budget chief. Before going into what is commonly called ?public service,? Mr. Lew was an employee of Citigroup, where he received his own $1 million taxpayer-supplied bailout bonus.

Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, has disclosed significant campaign contributions from financial institutions that benefitted from the TARP bailout. A political action committee created by General Motors, which was nationalized at taxpayer expense, has converted hundreds of thousands of bailout dollars into campaign contributions.

Whichever party seizes the advantage in the coming mid-term election, we will still be ruled by a parasitic plutocracy.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
