National Bankruptcy on the Horizon November 14, 2008

Is it possible that the federal government will go bankrupt? Warnings to that effect are being offered by top financial analysts.

Martin Hennecke, senior manage for the Tyche investment fund, advises us that the government?s AAA credit rating will likely be a casualty of the inconceivable volume of new debt being assumed by Washington to bail out failing financial institutions.

Swiss investment adviser Marc Faber, who has a 35-year track record of accurately anticipating financial trends, is 100% certain that the US Government will go bankrupt.

Right now, there is a flight to the dollar and the supposed security of Treasury Bonds as over-leveraged investments unwind world-wide. But the value of the dollar is being incessantly undermined as the Fed and Treasury Department run up immense debts to bail out financial institutions.

If Washington succeeds in bankrupting our country, it will be the common citizens, not our financial elite, who pay the price.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.

Veterans Day: Remember the Wasted Sacrifices November 11,2008

Prior to 1954, the day commemorated as Veteran?s Day was celebrated as Armistice Day.
In its earlier form, the observance marked the moment when World War I came to a close.

The Great War, as it was known, devoured 20 million human beings, wrecked countries and kingdoms, and cleared the way for the propagation of murderous ideologies, devoured 20 million human beings, wrecked countries and kingdoms, and cleared the way for the propagation of murderous ideologies, including Communism, fascism, and radical Islam.

In 1915 the Vatican made a desperate plea for a negotiated end to the war. Had that peace initiative been acted on, the world could have been saved incalculable death, destruction, and misery.
Instead, the Wilson administration manipulated the United States into the European war, broke the stalemate, and imposed a vindictive peace settlement that abetted the rise of Nazism.

As we remember our veterans, it?s proper to remember how their sacrifices have been wasted by cynical, immoral rulers, including our own.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.

The Imperial Presidency Will Continue November 10, 2008

For all of his insipid prattle about unspecified change, Barack Obama intends to pick up seamlessly where George W. Bush left off.

One point of agreement between Bush and Obama involves the use of executive orders as a substitute for constitutionally legitimate legislation. The Obama transition team has already indicated that the new administration would reverse orders issued by Bush dealing with embryonic stem cell experimentation and expansion of oil and gas drilling

According to Obama spokesman John Podesta, "There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action.? Since Obama ?feels like he has a real mandate for change,? Podesta continued, he will use presidential decrees ?to transform the way government acts?.?

The Bush presidency devised the ?unitary executive? theory, under which presidents could rule by decree. Bush supporters who championed that theory may have reason to lament the uses to which it will be put by Obama.

According to historian Michael Lind
?[Barack] Obama may join Washington, Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt on the short list of American presidents who ? presided over the re-founding of the United States.?

Lind divides American history into three separate republics. The first spanned the era between Washington and the Civil War; the second lasted from Lincoln to FDR; the third began with Roosevelt?s New Deal until now. Under this model Obama would have the opportunity to inaugurate a Fourth American Republic.

Each of the periods described by Lind resulted in centralization of power in Washington. That process has reached the point where Washington essentially runs everything at home and covets the power to run everything abroad.

If Lind?s model is correct, and Obama pursues his undisguised ambition to redistribute wealth, the Fourth American Republic would be a ?people?s republic? akin to those in Cuba and North Korea.

Our new economic dictatorship is following the Soviet model of personnel management by appointing the least qualified and most corrupt officials to the highest positions of public trust.

The de facto economic dictator is Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, formerly CEO of Goldman Sachs, which issued and profited from countless bad mortgage loans even as it was short-selling its own stocks.

The Federal Reserve recently appointed Michael Alix to be senior vice president in its Bank Supervision Group. Mr. Alix?s last job was working for Bear Stearns as chief risk assessment officer. That is the same Bear Stearns that was bailed out by the Federal Government earlier this year after it collapsed beneath the weight of failing high-risk loans.

The habit of rewarding corrupt incompetence is a family trait shared by all socialist regimes.

With the election over, this is a suitable time to propose an overdue reform: Every president should be impeached the instant he takes his inaugural oath, and subject to immediate trial and removal from office on his first proven violation of the Constitution.

Impeachment is not a criminal proceeding; it is intended to revoke delegated power once it has been abused. It is the constitutionally prescribed method of dealing with presidents, vice presidents, and judges accused of high crimes and misdemeanors, as well as conduct unsuitable to their respective offices.

There?s reason to believe that the Framers of the Constitution thought impeachments would occur frequently, given the tendency of ambitious men to abuse power.

Recent presidents have wasted little time violating their oath of office.Expediting the process of removing future presidents might force them to take that oath more seriously.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.

When Voting is a Sin November 4, 2008

November 4, 2008

Leading up to today?s election, more than a few Christian congregations have resounded with admonitions to vote. Some congregants have received sermons informing them that exercising the right to vote is necessary in order to obey the commandment that we love our neighbors.

Actually, voting can be a crime against one's neighbors if it is done for the purpose of enriching one's self at his neighbor's expense. Too many people approach voting as a way of enlisting the State to impose upon a neighbor's legitimate rights through taxation and other confiscatory practices. Theft is not sanctified when it is carried out pursuant to a majority vote.

Properly understood, the purpose of voting is to protect one's life, liberty, and property against abuses committed by the state. We elect representatives for that purpose, and should punish those who fail to carry it out.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.

Since 1977, Ageda Camargo has lived in a small three-bedroom house in La Quinta, California. In fact, at the time Ageda bought her home, the City of La Quinta didn?t exist. Now its government is trying to steal her home and put her in jail.

Code enforcement bureaucrats have decided that one of the bedrooms in that house is an illegally converted garage. They demand that Ageda ? an 83-year-old breast cancer patient -- pay a $3,000 fine and make modifications she cannot afford, or go to jail.

Ageda purchased the modified home in its present condition. The City of La Quinta has taxed it as a three-bedroom dwelling.

A local contractor has offered to perform the modifications for free. An outraged neighbor has filed a criminal complaint against city officials for abuse of the elderly. However this case turns out, those responsible for bringing it richly deserve to be horsewhipped.

Let us take back the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
